Before I was a Mom,
I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt..
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom..
Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body..
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.
Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the amazement or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom.

I'm back...again...maybe
my life has been crazier than I ever dreamed (it's been more of a nightmare, but things are headed in the right direction now)...in the past month and a half I've learned who my true friends are and who I can trust...I won't go into details but I've learned alot about myself this past month and a half; I'm a lot stronger than I ever give myself credit...
but with my nightmare comes changes and the biggest change is I'm going back to work, I've been a stay at home mom and nephew sitter forever and now I'm getting back into the real world...before children I sold insurance and I'm going back into that field, I interviewed and was offered a job with a brand new agent with ALFA (just waiting on him to get the office set up)...it's going to be a HUGE change but I'm ready!

When your hut is on fire...
The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him. Every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming. Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect him from the elements, and to store his few possessions.
One day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, with smoke rolling up to the sky. He felt the worst had happened, and everything was lost. He was stunned with disbelief, grief, and anger. He cried out, 'God! How could you do this to me?'
Early the next day, he was awakened by the sound of a ship approaching the island! It had come to rescue him!
'How did you know I was here?' asked the weary man of his rescuers.
'We saw your smoke signal,' they replied.
The Moral of This Story: It's easy to get discouraged when things are going bad, but we shouldn't lose heart, because God is at work in our lives, even in the midst of our pain and suffering. Remember that the next time your little hut seems to be burning to the ground, it just may be a smoke signal that summons the Grace of God.

EVERY WOMAN...
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE...
enough money within her control to move out and rent a place of her own, even if she never wants to or needs to...
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE...
something perfect to wear if the employer, or date of her dreams wants to see her in an hour...
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE...
a youth she's content to leave behind...
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE...
a past juicy enough that she's looking forward to retelling it in her old age...
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE...
a set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black lace bra...
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE...
one friend who always makes her laugh... and one who lets her cry...
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE...
a good piece of furniture not previously owned by anyone else in her family...
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE...
eight matching plates, wine glasses with stems, and a recipe for a meal, that will make her guests feel honored...
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE...
a feeling of control over her destiny...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
how to fall in love without losing herself...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
how to quit a job, break up with a lover, and confront a friend without; ruining the friendship...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
when to try harder...and WHEN TO WALK AWAY...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
that she can't change the length of her calves, the width of her hips, or the nature of her parents...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
that her childhood may not have been perfect...but it's over...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
what she would and wouldn't do for love or more...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
how to live alone...even if she doesn't like it...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
whom she can trust, whom she can't, and why she shouldn't take it personally...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
where to go...be it to her best friend's kitchen table...or a charming Inn in the woods...when her soul needs soothing...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
what she can and can't accomplish in a day...a month...and a year...

this ever happen to you?
I took my small child with me shopping, halfway through our shopping trip, nature called, so I took my little one with me into the restroom. If you'd been one of the ladies in the restroom that evening, this is what you would have heard coming from the second to the last stall:
''Mommy, are you gonna go potty? Oh! Why are you putting toiwet paper on the potty, Mommy? Oh! You gonna sit down on da toiwet paper now? Mommy, what are you doing? Mommy, are you gonna go stinkies on the potty?''
At this point I started mentally counting how many women had been in the bathroom when I walked in. Several stalls were full ... 4? 5? Maybe we could wait until they all left before I had to make my debut out of this stall and reveal my identity.
My child continued:
''Mommy, you ARE going stinkies aren't you? Oh, dats a good girl, Mommy! Are you gonna get some candy for going stinkies on the potty? Let me see doze stinkies, Mommy! Oh ... Mommy! I'm trying to see in dere. Oh! I see dem. Dat is a very good girl, Mommy. You are gonna get some candy!''
I heard a few faint chuckles coming from the stalls on either side of me. Where is a screaming new born when you need her? Good grief. This was really getting embarrassing. I was definitely waiting a long time before exiting. Trying to divert him, I said, ''Why don't you look in Mommy's purse and see if you can find some candy. We'll both have some!''
''No, I'm trying to see doze more stinkies...Oh! Mommy!''
My child started to gag at this point.
''Uh-oh, Mommy. I fink I'm gonna frow up. Mommy, doze stinkies are making me frow up!! Dat is so gross!!''
As the gags became louder, so did the chuckles outside my stall.. I quickly flushed the toilet in hopes of changing the subject. I began to reason with myself: OK. There are four other toilets. If I count four flushes, I can be reasonably assured that those who overheard this embarrassing monologue will be long gone.
''Mommy! Would you get off the potty, now? I want you to be done going stinkies! Get up! Get up!''
My child grunted and tried to pull me off now I could hear full-blown laughter. I bent down to count the feet outside my door.
''Oh, are you wooking under dere, Mommy? You wooking under da door? What were you wooking at? Mommy? You wooking at the wady's feet?''
More laughter. I stood inside the locked door and tried to assess the situation.
''Mommy, it's time to wash our hands, now. We have to go out now, Mommy.''
My child started pounding on the door.
''Mommy, don't you want to wash your hands? I want to go out!!''
I saw that my wait 'em out' plan was unraveling. I sheepishly opened the door, and found standing outside my stall, twenty to thirty ladies crowded around the stall, all smiling and starting to applaud. My first thought was complete embarrassment, then I thought, where's the fine print on the 'motherhood contract' where I signed away every bit of my dignity and privacy? But as my child gave me a big, cheeky grin while rubbing bubbly soap between chubby little hands, I thought, I'd sign it all away again, just to be known as Mommy to this little one.

catchup time...again...
this time of year keeps me running in circles and it's only gonna get worse...
it's beautiful here all the fruit trees and flowers are starting to bloom, the sun is shining...I love it! I've been so happy about our beautiful spring weather then when I decide it's time to work outside last weekend it cools off and rains all stinking weekend; hopefully the yard gets some attention this weekend...I inherited my grandparents house when my Granny passed away last January and my Granny loved flowers, I think there are about 100 flower beds in this yard that I have to weed...maybe 100 is exaggerating but for real there are 7 flower beds plus all the bushes & trees she had planted all around the 2 acreas, and with the remodeling we did on the house last year they haven't had any attention since the spring before...I have lots of pruning and weeding to do...
so I want to spend some time working in my yard but what does everybody else want me to do...let's see...hubby had surgery to repair a torn tendon on the 5th, surgery went well he's in a cast now but that limits him some, he's hard headed and still thinks he can do whatever he wants (that's what tore the tendon in the first place)...Chelsey is playing soccer 6 days a week...Relay for Life is just around the corner so we have to start fundraising and go to meetings...2 of my nephews are on the high school baseball team and they (and Chelsey & Jenna) think I have to be at every game...next month Jenna starts softball and guess who couldn't say "NO" when asked to coach; yeap me!...hubby sold his old shop and the guy is moving it on the 28th and I have been storing stuff in it since we moved so now I have to have all my stuff out by the 27th...I JUST WANT TO WORK IN MY YARD!
I did win Preppy 101's 200th post give away...YEAH ME! I never win anything but that was the 2nd blog give away that I've won...maybe I should go buy a lottery ticket...
anyways, I hope you all are enjoying your March!

Concentrate
To get something you never had, you have to do something you never did.
When God takes something from your grasp, He's not punishing you, but merely opening your hands to receive something better.
Concentrate on this sentence...
The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.

well, it snowed
well it snowed yesterday, it snowed a pretty good bit for this area...stuck for a little while but it's all gone now...the girls loved it, well Chelsey did Jenna thought it was too cold (I agree with Jenna)...all the schools around here closed for today, well all of them except 3 and yes my girls go to one of the three that didn't close so they were not very happy about that when they went to bed last night and I'm sure they are not going to be happy when I wake them up in a few minutes

some of my favorite things
I blog about my Granny alot but she was an important part of my life and I have lots of specials memories I want to share...today I'm going to share some my favorite things of her's that I got when she passed away
I've always loved these plates, I guess I'm a fruity person...these plates where given to my Granny & Grandaddy for Christmas 1964 from my Grandaddy's brother and sister in law...to be that old they are still in pretty good condition...I have them hanging in my dinning room
also hanging in my dinning room is this painting of more fruit...not sure where it came from or how old it is but I've always liked it
this mirrow is haning in my kitchen (as you can see in the reflection)...I had never seen this before until we were remodeling (if you're new here and don't know, I got my Granny's house) and tore out one of the closets and it was stuck in the very back...I think it's pretty awesome
this painting is hanging in our bedroom...it's the "Mill Stream" by Robert Wood
Chelsey and Jenna both wanted this mirror with the "Lord's Prayer" on it so to avoid an argument it is hanging in the office

where did they come from!
the girls are gone to Florida for the weekend to see their Granny (my mother-in-law) so I decided this morning that I would clean their rooms...I go in Jenna's room and it really is a disaster area but I clean, make her bed, sweep, dust, etc...she has these 5 BIG stuffed animals (they are tv pillows) under her bed and I look on the top bunch...OMG! where did all these things come from? her top bunch is packed from head to toe with stuffed animals...I'm glad nobody has to sleep up there

five simple rules to be happy
A 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud man, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o'clock, with his hair fashionably combed and shaved perfectly, even though he is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today. His wife of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary. After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, he smiled sweetly when told his room was ready.
As he maneuvered his walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of his tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on his window.
"I love it," he stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy.
"Mr. Jones, you haven't seen the room; just wait."
"That doesn't have anything to do with it," he replied. "Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my room or not doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged .. it's how I arrange my mind. I already decided to love it. It's a decision I make every morning when I wake up. I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do. Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open, I'll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I've stored away. Just for this time in my life. Old age is like a bank account. You withdraw from what you've put in. So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness in the bank account of memories!"
five simple rules to be happy:
1. Free your heart from hatred.
2. Free your mind from worries.
3. Live simply.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less.

what are you giving up for Lent?
Why do some Christians give up things for Lent?
answered by: Rev. Jonathon Jenson
Lent is a season of preparation for Christ's passion on the cross and for the resurrection celebrated at Easter. The early Christians observed this season of 40 days plus Sundays with a time of penitence and fasting. The 40 days are a reminder of Jesus' 40 days in the wilderness in preparation for his public ministry.
Lent is the most introspective of the church seasons, and in modern times the foci are on self-examination and repentance; prayer, fasting and self-denial; and meditation on the Holy Scriptures. All of these devotional practices, including giving up something, are to help us prepare for Easter.
The practice of fasting or self-denial often receives the most attention. To better prepare, we abstain from something: Alcohol, meat or chocolate are simple pleasures that many people often give up as a Lenten discipline. Giving up peas for me would be no sacrifice; I hate peas. The sacrifice should be something that produces a noticeable absence.
The theological basis for this is simple: Every time we want what we have given up, we are reminded of what Christ gave up for us. Christ gave his life. While our sacrifice pales in comparison, it serves as a frequent reminder of God's overwhelming and complete love for each of us in our season of preparation for the resurrection.
so what are you giving up?
I love my Coke...the drink not the drug...so this Lent I'm giving up my Coke and all soft drinks
GOOD LUCK!

next we have these 2 little angles kissing in front of the cross which has a lot of little pink roses all over it...Granny actually bought this from a fund raiser that Chelsey did when she was in preschool, she said the angles reminded Chelsey and Jenna...so this is pretty special

I know, it's only 50 but I started this blogging thing just because my good friend Tracy over at http://barbourbunch.blogspot.com/ wanted me to...like I don't have enough distractions keeping me from what I really need to be doing? anyway it has taken me since September to get to here but I have to say since December I've been doing pretty good with posting on a some what regular basis
in honor of my 50th post I'm having another give away...some of my favorite things...chocolates, lotions, and who knows what else I'll throw in there
here's how to enter:
1...posting a comment gets you 1 entry
2...following me gets you another 2 entries (if you already follow that's 2 for you too)
3...blogging about my give away (and let me know) gets you another 3 entries
4...if a new follower lets me know they are here because of you I'll give you another 1 entry
if you do all the above you have 7 chances to win...good luck!
my nephew Brady drew for my first give away which got me in trouble with his big brother Brandon so Brandon will draw for this one on March 2nd after school

WAY TO GO CHELSEY!
my oldest daughter Chelsey is in Middle School and made the soccer team as a 6th grader!
I knew she should make the team but sometimes being in the 6th grade the coaches make you wait a year...Chelsey is really good, and I'm not just saying that because she's my daughter...she has played soccer since she was 6, she's been to camps, she loves it!
I'm so proud of her!
WAY TO GO CHELSEY!

YIPEE!

prayer request
some of yall know my real life friend Semi-Slacker Mom (Tracy) over at http://barbourbunch.blogspot.com/ and she had asked for prayer for Baby Girl, well she needs more...I got this email this morning from her Mom (Babsy)
Our youngest grandchild, Baby Girl, contracted a "Bug" on Wednesday with severe vomiting and diarrhea. Tracy took her to the doctor on Thursday PM and she was badly dehydrated and was hospitalized Thursday evening to receive fluids. She was dismissed Friday morning. Well, the same thing occurred Friday afternoon and she is back at the Medical Center, Room 310 of the Children's Hospital. Please keep her in your prayers. I am also concerned about Tracy. She was up all night on Wednesday with the baby being sick, spent Thursday night in the hospital where no one gets much sleep and was back there last night. Please pray that the Lord will take the few hours of rest she can squeeze in and multiply it so that she can keep up with the pace that is required of her.
They were supposed to leave Friday for a trip to the mountains, so everyone is disappointed about that as well.
ALSO, Tracy's housekeeper and Nanny to the children, Matt Lizzie, was hospitalized the first of the week with a ruptured intestine. She is at the Medical Center, Surgical ICU, and is expected to be there for 6-10 days.
This is an especially tough time for Tracy. Please remember her, Baby Girl and Matt in your prayers
Babsy

any NASCAR fans out there?
with the Daytona 500 being this weekend I need to know; is there any NASCAR fans out there?
I started watching NASCAR in 2001, I LOVE IT! the races are awesome; the smell, the sounds, the vibrations...I can't wait to go to a race this year!
who's your favorite driver?
my favorite driver is Dale Earnhardt Jr...I started watching NASCAR out of pity after his Dad was killed in the 2001 Daytona 500...now I admire him as a driver and as a person...he's just a down to earth good ole southern gentleman
what's your favorite track?
I've been to 5 tracks but only watched races at 3...I've been to races at Atlanta, Talledega & Bristol; out of the 3 Talledega is my favorite...I've also been on tours at Daytona & Lowe's; a race at Daytona is on top of my "want to do list"
I rode around the Atlanta Motor Speedway at 170 MPH in a Kevin Harvick car...I want to drive but hubby thinks I'll chicken out

A Mother's Love
More than 21 years ago, Pam and her husband, Bob, were serving as missionaries to the Philippines and praying for a fifth child.
Pam contracted amoebic dysentery, an infection of the intestine caused by a parasite found in a contaminated food or drink. She entered into a coma and was treated with strong antibiotics before they discovered she was pregnant. Doctors urged her to abort the baby for her own safety and told her that the medicines had caused irreversible damage to her baby.
She refused the abortion and cited her Christian faith as the reason for her hope that her son would be born without the devastating disabilities physicians predicted. While pregnant, Pam nearly lost their baby four times but refused to consider abortion. She recalled making a pledge to God with her husband, "If you will give us a son, we'll name him 'Timothy,' and we'll make him a preacher."
Pam ultimately spent the last two months of her pregnancy in bed and, eventually, gave birth to a healthy baby boy August 14, 1987.
Pam's youngest son is indeed a preacher. He preaches in prisons, makes hospital visits, and serves with his father's ministry in the Philippines.
He also plays football. Pam's son is Tim Tebow.
Last year, the University of Florida's star quarterback, became the first sophomore in history to win college football's highest award, the Heisman Trophy.
my favorite Gator & my favorite Bible verse
Philippians 4:13
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me"

Angel Aiden
Cynthiaa over at http://cynthialovespictures.blogspot.com/ needs our prayers...she is going through every mothers nightmare, her baby boy Aiden was taken away from her before she could even get to know him...I have never been through this personally and I can't even begin to imagine the pain...Cynthiaa I'm sorry and I'm praying for you!
reading her pain since Aiden's birth has made me realize how lucky I am...never take for granted how lucky you are to have those children who drive you insane...be sure to tell them and show them how much you love them
some of Cynthiaa's friends are trying to organize a ballon release tomorrow (February 11th) and are looking for people to join in. If you could release a blue balloon or a few of them and take a picture, they want to put them into an album, showing all the places that balloons were released for Angel Aiden. If you would like to participate send your pictures to yummy_mummy_x@live.com
so will you join me and release a blue ballon for Angel Aiden?

I always like this...
I know this email has been around and around but I really like it and wanted to share...
One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, 'My son, the battle is between two wolves inside us all. One is Evil - It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other is Good - It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.'
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather 'Which wolf wins?'
The old Cherokee simply replied, 'The one you feed.'

have you ever felt helpless?
have you ever felt helpless?
well I do every time I hear the word cancer...that's why I volunteer for the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life
here's why I got involved...in December 1998 my Aunt passed away from cancer (at the young age of 54) and at her funeral I realized all the things I never told her...I never told her how much I admired her, how I thought she was a wonderful wife and mother, and how much I loved her...I made a promise to myself sitting right there in the church looking at her casket that I would do any and everything possible to help find a cure for that horrible disease so the next April I participated in my first Relay for Life...this April will be my 11th Relay for Life and it all started because of my love for my Aunt
you know, my Aunt may be the reason I started but my list grows every year...more family members, friends, parents of friends...I think the one that hit me the hardest was sweet little Olivia, 3 years old and diagnosed with leukemia...she's 5 now and still battling that horrible disease...she hasn't gotten to do the things little girls are suppose to do because she has spent the better part of the last 2 years in the hospital very very sick...bone marrow transplant, chemotheropy, you name it she's been through it...it makes me sad, no really it makes me mad!
I hope all of you who have been touched by this horrible disease will support your local Relay for Life and those of you who haven't be sure to thank God every night
